this week’s color story is inspired by a holiday magazine cover i recently posted on Instagram and have since become rather obsessed with, by artist George Giusti. it’s perhaps an unusual color palette, but i think that’s why i love it so much. the tones of his cover (above) are kind of muted, and that comes with the fact that this cover is quite old, but that’s part of its charm. these colors have a modern, quite tropical feel to them and definitely a mid-century modern vibe. i thought i’d seek out some images inspired by his artwork and they cover the very eclectic gamut from black to pale pink, mauve, and green with a little ochre thrown in for good measure. i hope you enjoy the looks.

LOVE. and loved learning about giusti on the letterology blog you linked.
Thank you! Happy to introduce his work to you. :)
Gawd. This color palette is the absolute bomb. Thanks for curating it Victoria!
thanks so much, Nancy! :)
Thank you for your inspiration!
I live in Europe and it is a breath of fresh air from watching buildings being bombed and desperate people fleeing the Ukraine (honestly, I’m not being snarky).
Oh, I know. I feel like it’s almost so trivial to post on the blog, but sometimes we need to see something pretty if just for a moment. Take good care.
When you posted the image to Instagram, I was posting some Fortune Mag with George Giusti cover art to Etsy that my neighbor gave me! I love these colors and the Holiday cover makes me think of Lourdes Sanchez’s watercolors!
Oh wow! I love when that kind of serendipity happens!
