happy weekend, one and all! i just wanted to thank you for the time off and let you know I’ll be back next week. i had a very good friend in town for her birthday for a few weeks, and it being august and all, much like the french do i thought i’d take one last summer break before we dive into fall. don’t you wish all countries took that kind of time off for our mental health?  here’s this week’s friday finds — an eclectic little round-up i hope you’ll be inspired by. also — a big announcement on Monday if you haven’t checked it out on Instagram yet!

xo, victoria

  1. i love everything about this very simple but stylish home office. it’s the charming home of Mauricio Arruda, an Architectural Designer. that small turntable is so chic! for more design inspiration from him, be sure and follow him on instagram.
  2. who doesn’t love insider travel tips? this site called 500 hidden secrets is sharing the best 5 places for graphic art and paper in paris — my dream come true. i’m kind of a journal addict and love pretty papers and cards, too, so this was a sweet find! check out their other hidden gems and their great city guidebooks, too.
  3. this is a genius room divider idea for creating separation and open shelving in a large space. open, functional, and so very lovely to look at (and see-through, too!). those terrazzo floors are pretty great, too.
  4. i’ve never seen sea fans displayed in this way before, but it’s quite a lovely and inspiring idea. displayed in tall narrow vases, or perhaps they’re actually candlesticks, these black sea fans look like gorgeous leggy branches. love it!
  5. this is such a beautifully layered and textural living room photographed by nicole franzen. everything nicole photographs is always truly gorgeous so be sure and check out her online portfolio for more inspiring interiors.
  6. this is a beautifully styled vignette from one of my very favorite photographers, salvo lopez. i love the effortless look of it all — the art collection and eclectic lighting are spot-on wonderful. salvo is another wonderful interior photographer, so check out his instagram feed and portfolio for more.
  7. i love built-in cabinetry, and this is a beautiful example of some really creative shelving. what i love most are the louvered cabinet doors — they almost look like window shutters re-purposed as doors and i love the look!
  8. open beamed ceilings are always a huge draw for me and i’ve lived in a few places that had these lovely special ceilings, but i’ve never had exposed wood beams, au natural so to speak. these are lovely-looking beams in this beautiful home in the U.K. — St Leonards-on-Sea, to be specific. for the full home tour visit the modern house.
