i’ve always had a thing for keeping my clothes organized by color and so when i see it well done, it always inspires me for a closet overhaul — out with the old (passed along to friends, thrift stores, or charitable organizations like women’s shelters) and in with not necessarily more, but instead a more cohesive look in my closet so i know what the heck’s hanging in there. it’s much easier to get dressed creatively with your wardrobe after a disciplined purging.

and in past apartments when i didn’t have much closet space i’ve been known to hang my favorite fashions on display. i think madelynn furlong was one of, if not the first, to create these tubular copper hanging rods and she even made one for me. not only did it look super clean and cool, but my clothes looked better for it, too. these kinds of hanging racks can be easily diy’d (follow madelynn’s project in the link), and you can find store-bought versions, too. i thought i’d round up a few other out-of-the-closet looks for you if you’re out of room in your closets and need some creative space-saving solutions for your wardrobe.
