Found: Authentic, Eccentric Beauty At Home.
Former Baywatch star inspires authentic beauty at home. I wouldn't have thought so a decade ago, but Pamela Anderson's new era has me influenced, and it's not just by fashion.
I’ve often found myself inspired by timeless, original, and authentic beauty that never goes out of style or could be considered a trend. Like a good Martini, it’s a standard I can live by — with a twist and two olives, please. The twist, in this case, is a bit of eccentricity. I think that’s where the inspiration for my home makeover came from, too. I wanted to streamline and simplify but get a little bit modernist at home, too. I could never go wholly modern or minimalist. I’m too much of an eclectic and a collector for that, and living in a 1929 beach cottage doesn’t really lend itself to that austere look, but I do love a mix of modern classics added for good measure. Strategically thrown in with my kitschy bits of vintage collectibles, I love a bit of modernism. A little like Pamela Anderson lately. Unusual comparison, perhaps, but please hear me out.
Embracing Your Own Unique Style.
“I think that’s what was fun about the relatability factor of being at fashion week. I’m this small-town girl in all these fancy clothes and appearing at fancy places. And I’m still sad, and it’s authentic.” — Pamela Anderson
It’s perhaps a weird analogy, but I found myself thinking of design in terms of where Pamela Anderson has landed lately with her very personal and relatable style. I’m very inspired by it. If you’ve watched her documentary (it’s so uplifting), you know she lives in her grandparents’ former farmhouse, Arcady, on Vancouver Island, wears little or no makeup, with slouchy dresses and tees with jeans while working her garden and sharing that on her TV show, Pamela’s Garden of Eden. And for dress-up — menswear-inspired fashions or haute couture with extreme attention to the smallest detail. And doesn’t it all appear to suit her perfectly? It’s like she’s finally doing what she wants on her own, and it’s fabulous. That’s what’s inspiring this post today: bringing that slightly eccentric, fashionable, but classic style into the home and embracing our authentic selves.
