friday finds ~ volume 1.
a weekly round-up of the sometimes weird and quite often wonderful things i find roaming around the internet.
welcome to friday finds, and it's truly an eclectic bunch of looks this week with loads of vintage finds. collecting vintage is always my preferred way to decorate, adding a unique, one-of-a-kind personality, and so good for the planet, too -- the ultimate recycling program. i want to say a huge thanks for all the support here on substack thus far. the response feels so rewarding. have a great weekend, everyone!
xo, victoria
maven collective pdx is one of my favorite online go-to vintage resources, and if you're in the portland area, you can drop in on her brick-and-mortar studio, too. i love this little glimpse she shared of a few of the treasures she collects and stores in this old flat file. follow her on instagram to catch a sneak peek of her vintage finds before they land in her shop.
miss moss always has a unique home to share with us, and this one is no exception. what's called the tattooed villa is santo sospir built after WWII. it remained quite unchanged until a summer visit in 1950 from artist jean cocteau went happily awry when he spent the holiday working away on ladders and adorning the walls with his fabulous line frescoes, using a few colors that echoed tattoo art. come on over, jean!
this is one very chic kitchen by dimore studios from photographer matthieu salvaing and stylist ana cardinale. i love the dramatic color palette, which is not always used in kitchens, and unexpected lighting fixtures and art galleries are always welcome.
this historic townhouse in east london has recently been given a modern makeover, and it's all quite dreamy (and creamy, too!). i love the monochromatic fireplace mantel with the habitat round mirror showcasing the owner's obsessive collection of pottery -- just enough to add a few bits of color. for more, visit remodelista and follow the owner, @consideredthings on Instagram to see more of this inspiring home.
who knew that a retro desk lamp paired with some fun vintage draperies could make such a statement? from the beautiful home design book, the sustainable home by sweden-based photographer, editor, and art director, Ida Magntorn it’s not only a home decor book full of decorating inspiration it's just so timely and necessary -- filled with really clever tips on how to be kind to our planet and shares my philosophy -- collecting vintage is the ultimate recycling and repurposing.
when i came across meson hildalgo and their chana guest room with its blue and brown striped walls, i just fell in love with its eclectic, creative vibes. meson hildalgo is a luxury guesthouse boutique in a centuries-old manor house in the city of san miguel de allende, mexico run by laura kirar, and what she’s created here is utterly wonderful. i instantly put it on my list of must-visits — cuz i want to sit here and eat a breakfast of fresh fruit and agua de fresa, too.
this beautifully eclectic bedroom belongs to the creative couple behind smith street bazaar, eddy opmanis and eryca green, purveyors of european and australian mid-century modern design in fitzroy, australia. their stunning home was featured recently on the always inspiring design files, and their entire home visit is a must-see.
you might expect the young creative director of contemporary footwear brand like camper shoes to live in a much more modern abode, but Achilles Ion Gabriel has discovered his rustic country boy roots in his new home in Mallorca. hello, i can see why -- this is my kind of colorful and uniquely beautiful island living. featured on architectural digest espana, it's an artist's dream home.

Super pretty, I love the Dimore duo, I have met them a few times and had the chance to sit down and interview them both for a piece I did for a Danish brand and they were such a lovely couple, so warm and creative, their designs are very much influenced by their love of cinematography, which makes sense as their showroom in Milan during Design Week is like walking into a film - they pipe in scent, music, ambient lighting, fog, it's incredible!!!
