good reads: arranging things.
introducing a brand new design book out from stylist extraordinaire colin king.
interior stylist extraordinaire colin king has a beautiful brand new book out with editor samuel cochran and published by rizzoli, and you’ll definitely want this one as part of your design library. arranging things is the perfect title for the thing that colin is renowned for — putting the style into your collectibles and making them look chic, never cluttered, and with an emphasis on personal creativity. the reason i began following colin on instagram in the first place is because of his eye for good design — never adding more than necessary and possibly taking something away so a vignette looks just perfect, never overdone.
in arranging things colin unpacks his intuitive and deeply personal process, guiding us on design conundrums such as scale, proportion, palette, and texture. as i believe — it’s not about buying new things but rather about dusting off old favorites and seeing them with fresh eyes — and perhaps looking beyond their intended use to discover uniquely repurposed and deeper meaning in the everyday object. here are a few of my favorite pages from arranging things. for more inspiration from colin, follow him on tiktok, pinterest, and instagram.
