welcome to cooking in small but very stylish spaces. tuck in and bon appétit.
i’ve always had quite the crush on all the small but very utilitarian kitchens you see in europe, which may not have much space, but just ooze style. they’re just oh so quaint with their tidy bits of organized clutter, usually going vertically with storage to make the most of the wall space and a limited floor plan. they maximize the quirky details and masterfully blend their homes’ vintage bones with unique, modern details. think high ceilings, ornate frescoes, ceiling moldings, and french doors all crammed into one very tiny but stylish space, and you’re getting the vibe. add some unexpected artwork like a vintage portrait painting or two, a collection of ceramics artfully out on display amongst the condiments, and some funky muted colors, perhaps a smeg fridge, and you’re getting warmer — all ready to cook in fun but funky style.

Perfect timing!! I’m renovating our tiny Hungarian kitchen right now, and every tweak feels precious and vital to preserving the spirit of the house and our life here. I love this post so much, thank you. 🤍
Beautiful but I I could cry. All those kitchens are larger than mine. And I don’t live in NYC
Just outside Washington DC
