a couple dozen of my favorite kitchen accoutrement with that always stylish, effortlessly chic european vibe. and a dozen of my must-have condiments, too.
when in europe i always fall in love with their chic kitchen accouterment. it’s sometimes hard to find less than just basic, generic chrome appliances and kitchen tools here in the states, so i’ve been on the hunt online for a while now and keep a stash of my very favorites. i thought i’d share a few of my favorite tools for cooking, as well as for serving my guests in style. bonne cuisine!
alessi pulcina stovetop coffee maker. i saw one of these in paris, but didn’t want to haul it all the way home, but thankfully found it here online.
buydeem dt640 four-slice toaster. yes, cute but oh-so functional, too.
kasso stovetop espresso maker. i love the Italian red, but it comes in silver and gray, too.
tablecraft salt cellar with lid. no better place to keep our maldon’s sea salt.
rsvp international retro ice cube tray. i love mine and like to take an ice pick (a la basic instinct) to the big cubes for iced coffee, and they’re perfect for fancy cocktails, too.
emile henry bread cloche. so chic and allows you to proof your bread directly in the pretty black bread cloche.
hblife bamboo folding 2-tier collapsible dish drainer. i’ve always had a crush on these — what chicer way to dry your dishes?
folksy super kitchen store non-slip silicone pastry mat. this thing is such a great gift and comes with all the measurements you need printed right on the mat.
craft & kin premium long decorative matches in an apothecary glass jar. just looks prettier on our counters.
dmofwhi gooseneck electric kettle. i love the color and the retro-cool shape.
le parfait super french glass canning jar. perfect for preserving, or storing pasta.
candy cotton’s set of six striped kitchen tea towels. i love that french stripe, and they come in a bunch of different colors to match everyone’s kitchen.
the original european brass salt and pepper mill. i love the way the brass patina's after a while. it looks even better after lots of use.
forkamannie porcelain fresh egg tray. i always keep my fresh eggs in these and find them much more convenient to grab and go than the regular corrugated boxes eggs come in.
narce stovetop espresso maker moka pot. this one’s just too cute and perfect when you only need to serve a few cups of espresso.
electric spice and coffee grinder. i love a good spice grinder, and this one’s very vintage modern looking.
y-me manual citrus juicer. i use this daily. did you know the lemons go in cut-side down? i just recently found this out. duh, but it’s kinda counter-intuitive based on the shape.
candy cotton’s set of six black & white striped kitchen tea towels. i love a good-looking black & white kitchen towel, and these are nice and absorbent.
bloomingville ceramic egg cups, set of three. i’ve been eating soft-boiled eggs in egg cups since i was little, and i like the nostalgic look of these.
d² rectangle chalkboard cheese markers, set of six. easy to label unusual, fancy cheeses with the erasable blackboard signs.
tender cottage marble and acacia wood cutting board. perfect for small charcuterie platters and looks great at a cocktail bar for cutting citrus, too.
atpwonz unbleached natural parchment tulip cupcake liners. i love these because not only are they parchment paper, they look tres chic, too.
mwellewm dispenser jars with spout lid, set of two. i use these religiously for making salad dressing that i want to keep for a short while, and it’s easy to control the amount of dressing you’re pouring.
home-x jadeite glass pitcher. a blast from the past. i love old jadeite, and this one has a very fun 50’s shape.
i also thought i’d include just a few of my favorite go-to condiments and hard-to-find international foods for you. these are ones i swear by and use on a weekly, if not daily, basis around my kitchen. for more of my favorites, hop over here.
edmond fallot french dijon mustard, pack of two. i use this mustard in everything from salad dressing to marinating fresh salmon.
maldon sea salt flakes. i’ll admit i’m a salt addict and always buy the huge tub.
tonnino ventresca yellowfin tuna in olive oil, pack of six jars. i make a lot of salad nicoise, and this is the best tuna i’ve ever tried. we discovered it on a trip to sicily.
cento extra hot calabrese pepperoncino spread. it’s delicious on sandwiches, but i also add it to pasta sauces for a kick.
kusmi tea st. petersburg loose tea tin. my favorite — an indulgent earl grey black tea blend with notes of caramel, vanilla & berries. fancy.
maille original cornichons gherkins, pack of two. i eat a lot of these. they’re basically a zesty calorie-free snack and so satisfying and delicious.
maison pebeyre truffle honey. it’s so delicious served with soft cheeses or drizzled on almonds. decadent for sure.
cento flat anchovies in olive oil. i put these in my salad nicoise, too, and sometimes add them to my salad dressings. zing!
café du monde half a dozen cans of coffee with chicory. i drink this every single morning. i don’t usually get my coffee to go and prefer this made in my espresso maker at home.
la dunkerquoise french waffle caramel cookies. so good for afternoon tea with the kusmi above. trust me.
antonino caravaglio sicilian salted capers. i used these in marinades for fish, or add them to pasta sauces. salty and divine.
les comtes de provence fig jam organic preserve spread. the perfect accompaniment to your cheese or charcuterie board.
