wear this there: maison premiere brooklyn.
nothing says celebration more than oysters and champagne — the perfect holiday mood maker.
we’re headed to one of my personal favorite spots to dine and imbibe when in brooklyn — maison premiere. with its classic french bistro vibe it’s the kind of place i can sit contentedly at the bar with a dozen oysters and a glass of champagne or (absinthe!) and feel perfectly at home. maison premiere has a lovely nostalgic atmosphere and its decor a well-worn patina reminecent of the grand old restaurants of new york, paris, and new orleans — just my kinda place. we’re going to get a bit dressed up for the holiday season in shades of gray and patina green inspired by those pretty oyster shells, as well as the decor with a long silk slip skirt over which we’re wearing a feather embellished a-line dress — i love layering an unexpected dress over a skirt or jeans and this one’s fun. add some velvet mary janes worn with sparkly socks, a mohair knit turban, a long black coat, a vintage-inspired clutch and some antique-looking jewels and i think we’re going to fit right in.
while you await your cocktail and oysters you might like to read the likeness by tana french. it’s the second book in her dublin murder squad series and a whodunit i really liked. in this story the murder victim looks exactly like detective cassie maddox and carries i.d. identifying herself as alexandra madison, an alias cassie once used as an undercover cop. so cassie is back undercover, to find out not only who killed this young woman, but, more importantly, who she was.
