vintage home decor from jayson home. / sfgirlbybay

one of the best things about moving, is redecorating. and if you know me, it’s sometimes a lot of the reason i move at all — i’m just wired to constantly be changing things up! i love to find new ways to reinvent my style, or let it evolve and finding new resources for home accessories and furnishings is key. i was invited by jayson home to have a look at their latest catalog and choose a few items from their beautiful collections. one look and i was in, because not only does jayson home carry some unique and eclectic new pieces, they also have a vintage collection and you know how that grabs my attention! so today, i’m giving you a little sneak peek at some corners of my new laguna cottage and in it, the pretty new and vintage pieces i selected from jayson home, as well as a few favorites i think you’ll quite like.

i loved jayon home’s Vintage Chair collection and this bistro chair is perfect for my bedroom fan, stacking books, or extra seating when i need it; and i just flipped over this Vintage French Iron Shelf in my guest room. I’ve styled it with some books, candle and a few of my favorite vintage objet d’art. and just below their Vintage Chinese Basket is ideal for stacking my outdoor blankets for chilly nights on my veranda.

jayson home’s look is really unique to a lot of online brands in that their pieces have an unexpected and personal point of view — and by that i mean they just don’t look cookie-cutter out of a catalog (even though they may be!), but are decor pieces you can decorate around and build on to make your home uniquely you. i love the cool shapes of pieces like their LINEA CONSOLE and nico lamp (below), and the SENOFO CARVED STOOL, and great artwork, too — like this PLATO BLACK & WHITE painting. i also like that it’s got a vintage-modern, very mismatched vibe — my raison d’etre when it comes to decorating. so here’s a look at some of the jayson home pieces i took home, and a few i think you might like to bring home, too!

art gallery wall in citrus house in hancock park. / sfgirlbybay

welcome to citrus house — an aptly named home for just how juicy and colorful this place is! located in charming hancock park (one of my favorite L.A. neighborhoods) it’s actually on the market, listed by jenna cooper LA. this is one very eclectic and curated collector’s home and although it’s got a lot going on, it’s all very well done. i like looking at spaces like this one because it’s loaded with intricate inspiration everywhere you look, and every time you take another peek you see something new. for instance, i love their sea-faring collection of vintage sailing paintings and the sculptures over the mirrored mantle. the collection of moroccan lanterns hanging from the other fireplace is quite a lovely idea as well, especially for a non-working fireplace. go ahead, see what you can see and steal some grand ideas! for the full tour and if you happen to be in the market visit jenna cooper LA.

dried palm frond as wall decor. / sfgirlbybay

today’s instagram worthy feed is really giving me beachy inspiration for my laguna cottage. we’re headed down under and visiting @mrjasongrant — one of Australia’s favorite stylists, designers, and design book authors. i’ve long been a fan of jason’s work and his latest vibes are ever so lovely. he seems to be taking strong cues from the beautiful nature of his homeland and bringing them indoors, giving them a whole new life. warning, @mrjasongrant: i will be stealing ideas from you. i’ve already got the palm frond going on, but i’m about to go foraging for more — cactus paddles, birds of paradise? yes please. go visit jason’s beautiful feed and his website for much more design inspiration — it’ll be a great way to start your week.

large palm frond. / sfgirlbybay

hurrah, another weekend has finally arrived. it’s still warm and sunny here in california, but i wish for the sake of these wildfires it would cool off and start raining. to anyone affected by these tragic fires, my heart is with you, and with these brave firefighters. they continue to run into danger, while the rest run to safety. here’s to better news next week, and in the meantime, here’s some weekend inspiration for you.

xo, victoria

  1. y’all seemed very interested in my found palm frond, and i see i’m not the only one in love with the way nature can brighten up your space (for free — just wait for wind!). i love @jacqui_turk’s photograph, styled by @mrjasongrant — just lovely!
  2. @kawa_heart_studio has the most incredible cottage, and in it are so many charming nooks and niches. this circular arch and those built-in cubbies is just one of them and it’s perfect.
  3. i love seeing this remodel take shape and @houseinhabit’s newly remodeled bathroom is so enviable. they did this all themselves and i am awe-inspired. that ceiling looks like such a dreamy thing to stare up at from that lovely vintage clawfoot tub.
  4. littlegreenshed’s capture of this pretty little corner at Elmley Nature Reserve is so pretty. it makes me want to hunt down some of these oversized white clay jugs next time we’re searching for super marché in france.
  5. this outdoor coffee table on wheels looks just dreamy. i’ve seen these DIY pallet tables made before, but i’ve never seen them painted whitewashed and i love it.
  6. this pretty desk setup makes me swoon. the curved legs of the table are gorgeous, and the sculpture is stunning. not to mention those beautiful ornate mouldings on the ceilings.
  7. i love built-in shelving but it’s recessed built-in shelves that really get me inspired. these ones are so pretty, and styled quite minimally but really beautifully. less can always be more.
  8. this outdoor patio is so inviting — i love the low, comfy looking outdoor sofas, area rug and especially admire that keep-you-warm-and-cozy outdoor fireplace for chilly nights. bravo on a design well done!

the bar at nami nori in NYC. / sfgirlbybay

i’ve got a real hankering for sushi, so this week we’re popping into NYC’s West Village latest sweet spot, nami nori. with its sleek, modern design lines, nami nori is the perfect spot to make their beautiful maki rolls shine. everything on the menu sounds divine — from shishito peppers with smoked honey miso to tuna poke with crispy shallots and edamame sprinkled with plum sesame salt my mouth is literally watering. we’re going to head there sporting a minimalist Japanese vibe (we’re even bringing our own chopsticks), in one of my favorite shirts from frank & eileen, paired with chic cuffed blue jeans, comfy black boots, and to keep us warm and cozy on the walk there a belted wool coat and cashmere beanie. whilst walking the west village i suggest listening to my new favorite podcast, passenger list — Atlantic Flight 702 has disappeared mid-flight between London and New York with 256 passengers onboard and a college student whose twin brother vanished with the flight, is determined to uncover the truth. an intriguing a new mystery thriller podcast from PRX’s Radiotopia.
