charming kitchen and dining spaces / sfgirlbybay

i’m feeling the need for lots of whimsy and charm today — i hope you are, too. it started with this adorable green & orange striped curtain above, peeking into the cute kitchen beyond. i love this idea, but i’m not sure i have the wall space to accommodate the curtain when pulled closed in my own kitchen — so can someone please create this so i can vicariously live through you? from this image i went on the hunt for a few more charming kitchen and dining spaces — all with the kind of european vibe i love so much , and made even more attractive by a hint of green cabinetry and some with amazing tiled floors. it’s a little all over the place, but it worked for me. i hope it does for you, too —  and most importantly puts a smile on your face.

collecting: ceramics / sfgirlbybay

collecting ceramics of all kinds has become my latest hobby and i hope to take it a step further very soon since a new ceramics workshop has recently reopened in laguna beach. i’m signing up for classes at arttime barro and cannot wait to get behind a pottery wheel again. i tried it once at the row dtla’s still life ceramics and found it to be so very zen. anyway, i started looking around for some inspiration for shapes and styles i like and would hope to learn to make one day, and thought i’d share. if you’re not into making your own there are so many great resources for collecting handmade pieces on etsy, and even instagram if you want to go on a hunt, and chairish and elsie green are both great resources for vintage ceramics, too — and i often have a few vintage collectibles at super marché, too. from serving pieces to incense burners there’s an abundance of interesting ceramics to begin a collection of your very own.
